We are waiting for the Galaxy S7 and a few surprises, here’s one: the Samsung Auto Connect.
Last year, Huawei announced the airbox Auto sold by Orange. The accessory was connecting to the outlet dedicated to the cigarette lighter and offered a 4G LTE connection and a USB port. Samsung for its part has just introduced its dongle, Samsung Auto Connect.
Unlike the airbox Auto, it connects to the OBD socket, present on the vast majority of cars. Often located under the steering wheel, the dongle is theoretically invisible in the passenger cars. 4G LTE connection is then shared over Wi-Fi in the car, all is protected by Samsung KNOX.
Like the French case Xee, the Samsung Auto Connect sends data related to the car in your smartphone, it is possible to perform maintenance by checking basic data, in case of tampering when the headlights are on or when there is a technical problem simply. useful option, there is also the option “Find My Car” for geo-locate his car in case of theft or for those who have their heads in the air.
For now presented to the US market, we have no information on its availability in Europe or on its launch price.
